Ministers' panel may meet July 11 on grain exports (Reuters)

NEW DELHI (Reuters) ? A panel of ministers is likely to meet on July 11 to take up the issue of allowing grain exports, Food Minister K.V. Thomas said on Friday.

"Most likely, the EGoM (Empowered Group of Ministers) will meet on July 11. On the quantity (of exports) there are various proposals. The eGoM has to decide on that," Thomas told Reuters.

Thomas has said he is not against grain exports which were banned since 2007. Government sources have said exports of one million tonnes each of wheat and rice could be allowed given that India's warehouses were overflowing.
