Tests over party chairman's death

Toxicology tests are to be carried out on the body of a senior member of David Cameron's constituency association who died at the Glastonbury Festival.

Christopher Shale was found dead in a cubicle at a VIP toilet at the Glastonbury Festival on Sunday.

His body may have been undiscovered close to the Pyramid Stage for up to 10 hours.

Officers say they are not treating the death as suspicious, following a post-mortem examination.

The examination was carried out on Sunday but the cause of death has not yet been determined.

"Further tests will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death," a police spokesman said.

Mr Shale was described by the prime minister as a "close and valued friend".

The 56-year-old had been staying in a mobile home with his family at the festival.

A police cordon was erected around the area, where many of the festival's production team and performers were also staying.

Mr Shale, who worked in public relations, management consultancy and marketing, was married with three grown-up children.

He was the chief executive of Oxford Resources Ltd, a cost reduction company based in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire and was previously chief executive of MSG Communications.

More than 137,000 people attended the festival at Worthy Farm in Pilton which finished on Sunday night.
