Manila, Philippines ? In line with its efforts to come up with a standard in their selection and deployment in public schools nationwide, the Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday has released additional guidelines in the hiring of kindergarten teachers.
According to Education Secretary Armin Luistro, kindergarten teacherapplicants must be a holder of any of the following degrees: Bachelor in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Bachelor of Science Preschool Education, Bachelor of Science (BS) in Family Life and Child Development, Bachelor in Elementary Education with specialization in Preschool or Early Childhood Education, Bachelor in Elementary Education major in Teaching Early grades.
?We must adhere to quality standards in preparing our young learners,? Luistro said. ?It therefore follows that our teachers must be equipped with the required standard as regards competence and qualifications,? he added. (Ina Hernando-Malipot)
